Mr. President, On Managing Sexual Violence in Nigeria ~ John Egbeazien Oshodi, Ph.D. In reality, the Federal Ministry of Justice should have its Office of Public Prosecution fully developed with a functioning Sex Crimes Unit working closely with establishments like the Nigeria Police, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Youth Development and other related agencies in order to ensure the successful investigation and prosecution of all felony sex crimes as well as protecting victims fully. The Sex Crimes division at the Office of Public Prosecution should be set up in way that will enable it work with several specialized private organizations such as the NGOs, Psychological service and medical providers, and other related providers who could offer assistance in the areas of forensic psychological examinations, victim assessment as well as counseling for victims.
