Obstructing Business or Obstructing Warmongers in: South Korea?

Image
Iara Lee Dear Iara Lee, I read your "Obstructing Business": South Koreans on the March posted on 8/29/11 08:57 PM ET of the Huff Post World . Your observation of the human rights abuses in South Korea are surprising to us in Nigeria, because we thought South Korea is a more civilized country compared to communist North Korea and other Machiavellian governments in the world. We are disappointed by the maltreatment of human rights activists in Jeju-do and other parts of South Korea. The "Island of the Gods” is the island of peacemakers and not a base for warmongers. It has been reported that the naval base is estimated to cost 958.7 billion won, a civilian-military port complex that could simultaneously dock about 20 warships, including Aegis warships, and two 150,000- ton cruise ships. WOW! South Korea wants to launch a super power tussle with Japan and China or ready for a showdown with North Korea? The South Korean government should stop playing to the gallery of the US...

Surge, Hailed by Cheney Today in Texas, is Not a 'Change In Direction' But Justification of Failed Occupation Policy

27 Feb 2008 09:00 Africa/Lagos Surge, Hailed by Cheney Today in Texas, is Not a 'Change In Direction' But Justification of Failed Occupation Policy NEW YORK, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the five-year anniversary of the Iraq invasion draws near, a new PR offensive by the White House is attempting to frame the recent troop "surge" as a strategic and military turnaround. But a growing chorus of experts warn that such claims merely mask the Administration's long-standing policy to ensure a protracted American occupation of the oil-rich nation. They warn that the occupation will not result in an end to the violence that has enveloped Iraq and so far claimed nearly 4,000 American lives. Speaking at Ft. Hood on Tuesday, Vice President Dick Cheney told Texas troops, "It was time for a new strategy, backed up by a surge of forces... and you did in fact turn things around." And at a town hall meeting in Ohio on Monday, Senator John McCain, the lik...

Nigeria Is Still #1 Riskiest Country For Online Fraud Unchallenged

28 Jan 2008 14:00 Africa/Lagos "Certainly Nigeria's persistent notoriety among eCommerce merchants is enhanced by the ubiquitous 'Nigerian Scam' letters," said Doug Schwegman, CyberSource director of customer and market intelligence. "Russia dropping off the list this year may simply mean merchants have given up shipping even digital products to that country due to negative outcomes in the past. But the real message of these findings is that fraud remains a significant issue in the lives of eCommerce merchants. We do see increasing popularity of IP Geolocation, a tool that gives merchants information on the location of an internet-connected computer based on its internet protocol address. But as always, we remind merchants that no one tool is a silver anti-fraud bullet -- that combinations of tools work best to root out cybercrime."
