Calling for Academy Awards for Best Feature and Best Animated Film Produced with AI


AI is Exponentially Advancing the Film Industry

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) is dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of motion pictures should celebrate and not fret about advancement of filmmaking with AI. Because whatever art or science that is necessary for the general enlightenment and entertainment of the society is for the advancement of human civilization.
AMPAS should be the leading advocate and champion of the technological advancement of the film industry.

Multiple Academy Award winning director James Cameron called generative AI performances "horrifying", because they attempt to replace real human artists and experiences. But he cannot deny and dismiss the exponential advantages of using AI for the following:

Workflow Efficiency & Democratization: Independent creators and studios use AI for pre-visualization, storyboarding, and scheduling, which cuts down production time and financial barriers.

AI and robots are used for cameras in film and TV production:

Motion Control Rigs:
Robotic arms move cameras with exact precision. They repeat the exact same movement many times for special effects.

Cable Cams and Drones:
Remote-controlled and automated rigs fly or glide smoothly above actors. They capture fast or dangerous action safely.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and SCIENCES (AMPAS) has an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, which honors the best artistic and technical achievements in creating cinematic illusions, and so there should be an Academy Award for a new category for the Best Film produced with AI. And animated movies produced with AI should be eligible for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and Best Animated Feature Film.
