Submarine 2. Cave of Forgotten Dreams 3. Midnight in Paris 4. Another Year 5. The Clowns Ayoade is an only child of a Norwegian mother, Dagny (née Baassuik), and a Nigerian father, Layide Ade Laditi Ayoade. The film is based on a prize-winning novel by Joe Dunthorne. After an investigation by a reliable news reporter who visited Lagos in the last week of June, he found out that the “Yahoo -Yahoo!” boys have gone underground since the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) swooped on the cyber cafes frequented by the Internet scammers. They now use laptops to contact their ignorant targets in the United States and other developed countries. The successful “Yahoo -Yahoo!” guys are well known on the campus of the University of Lagos in South western Nigeria, where they cruise about with their fair-weather girlfriends in their flashy cars and bling bling fashion, while their admirers and hangers-on cheer them on. “There is always a greedy Maga online who will fall for any of their various methods of Internet s...

The Dogs and the Pigs in Nigeria

There are political subjects I deliberately ignore in Nigeria, because it would be a waste of time to discuss them. The primitive nature of the so-called Chief Adedibu and the political prostitution of Patricia Etteh, are enough to show us the stock-in-trade of the notorious People's Democratic Party of Nigeria. When I read that a Nigerian bank has won an award as the best bank in Africa, I chuckle and smirk, because only fools would be impressed. To those giving kudos to the PDP led government, I feel sorry for their conceit and deceit. If you really want to know the quality of the leadership of the PDP led government, please go on tour of the NYSC Camps in Nigeria and ask yourself if any sane government in the world would subject the future leaders of the country to such inhuman conditions and reduce Nigerian graduates to the state of animals in a ranch. When I see the administrators of the National Youth Service Commission, I feel like hanging them if not to have them shot. The ...

Nigerian Female Bloggers Are Making Waves in the Blogosphere!

Suddenly more Nigerian babes and ladies are blogging and making the Nigerian blogosphere sizzling with hot posts. And they are attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors. Most of their blogs are what I call scuttlebutt blogs or daily social gist and tidbits blogs. And Bella Naija leads the pack, followed by Linda Ikeji and company. Adaure is still in a world of her own, because she is like the Oprah Winfrey of the Nigerian blogosphere in her subject matters. Queen Ebong and others are still exciting and thrilling. The most profiled Nigerian female blogger still remains Sokari Ekine of Black Looks. . And Funmi Iyanda would be more enlightened if she spends some quality time with Sokari. There are Nigerian female bloggers as young as 11. Two of them have left comments on Nigerian Times since 2005. There are over 400 Nigerian bloggers and quite a small number for a nation of over 140 million people. Even South Africa and Kenya have more bloggers than Nigeria. There are over 5 mill...
