The Dalai Lama Must Be Reasonable in His Demands

Tenzin Gyatso, The 14th Dalai Lama 3 May 2008 01:37 Africa/Lagos The Dalai Lama Must Be Reasonable in His Demands LONDON, May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Heads of State and the international media should be aware of the facts on the Tibet Issue in order to manage their expectations over the proposed meeting between the Chinese government and the top envoy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. While China recently announced that they would initiate a dialogue with the top envoy to His Holiness shortly after a meeting with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, Heads of State should be aware that China has always been a willing partner in negotiation with Tibet on all issues apart from the question of territory and political independence. These issues importantly include the protection of ancient and sacred Tibetan culture. The probability of success from these renewed talks however should be viewed as extremely low given the nature of the demands made by His Holiness as part of ...

Correction of a Mis-Quote by The Daily Mail

22 Apr 2008 01:18 Africa/Lagos Correction of a Mis-Quote by The Daily Mail LONDON, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- In the Daily Mail on Friday 18 April 2008, Louise Blouin MacBain, Chairman of Louise Blouin Media and the Louise T. Blouin Foundation, was erroneously misquoted as stating that: "His Holiness is trying to win cultural independence for an area that is the size of the UK, Germany and Portugal lumped together and in that aim he is deluded." This statement as published by the Daily Mail, reprinted in the National Post is categorically incorrect. I Support the Boycott of the Beijing Olympics

Image
I have already sent a formal letter of protest to the Government of the People's Republic of China and signed the petition of the Human Rights First on the complicity of China in the genocide in Darfur , Sudan. China sold over $55 million worth of arms to Sudan from 2003-2006. China supplied the assault rifles, heavy machine guns, anti-aircraft guns, anti-tank weapons, and mortars used by the ruthless Sudanese military and the Janjaweed in Darfur. For decades, hundreds of Tibetans have been arrested and incarcerated for their dissenting opinions and religious beliefs. Tibetan nuns have been raped in detention and in 1994, a Tibetan nun was tortured to death. The recent attacks on Tibet have only made things worse and I am now calling for the boycott of the Beijing Olympics by all people of conscience. We must petition the International Association of Athletics Federations , IAAF, to support the boycott of the Beijing Olympics. There is no guarantee of the safety and security o...
