Guests were requested to emulate the Golden Age of Hollywood by wearing either black or white attire (no color allowed) in support of heart disease awareness. The contemporary atmosphere was transformed into the magic nostalgia of old Hollywood Glam with more than 400 attendees channeling their favorite silver screen stars, including appearances by "Rita Hayworth" and "Marilyn Monroe". Glittering 2013 black and white Rolls Royce Phantoms complimented the event, as vintage movie reels served as the evening's backdrop. An exuberant 'meet and greet' was provided by Bon Affair, with Red Carpet photography provided by Tony Lattimore and Katya Williams. Guests shared interviews with Scott Stewart for the local television show "What's Up OC". The evening also featured live performances by "Marilyn Monroe", played by Grace Richardson, along with a glamorous fashion show featuring the "Ladies of Shanghai" by Laguna designer Katharine Story; casino-style gaming tables by Dad's Poker Night; and olive oil tastings by The California Olive. In addition, South Bay Jewelry provided gems for guests to try on with their gowns; delectable desserts by Bonappesweet to satiate the guest's sweet tooth; and gorgeous white floral arrangements, dripping with crystals, prepared by Studio Ooh La La, adorned the lavish ballroom. Guests were awarded raffle and highest-chip prizes, including a private chauffeur-driven ride in a Rolls Royce Phantom, graciously provided by Rolls Royce of Newport Beach, and a chance to win a walk-on role in a major motion picture by the producer of "Casino" and "Batman Returns".
Through GuardaHeart's "SaveThe1" campaign, the Foundation encourages individuals to know their actual heart risk so they know where they need to make necessary lifestyle modifications. Since 1 out of every 3 individuals in the US has some form of heart disease, GuardaHeart has launched the movement: "Pledge to SaveThe1." Through their events this year, GuardaHeart has raised awareness for heart disease and empowered individuals to consult their physician and learn more about their heart risk. With knowledge comes power to make critical lifestyle modifications that inspire life.
"It was our great pleasure to honor GuardaHeart at our event on Saturday. We recognize that far too many lives continue to be lost to heart disease and we want to do our part to stop the devastation of this disease through awareness", commented Sassy Pantz Productions CEO and Publicist, Annamaria Pope. "We are honored to support GuardaHeart Foundation whose focus is on Heart Disease prevention and education and we proudly stand behind their "SaveThe1" movement".
About GuardaHeart
GuardaHeart is a non-profit foundation dedicated to raising awareness of Heart Disease prevention by spreading the word to guard your heart and save your life. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. If individuals know their risk and take the necessary steps, the good news is that most cardiovascular disease is preventable. Although heart disease is typically diagnosed in adulthood, its roots are often found in childhood. Intervention strategies and healthy lifestyle changes to reduce heart disease risk should begin early, when reversal of the process is easier, not later in life when the disease is more fully developed. GuardaHeart funds provide assistance for individuals who are unable to pay for cardiac risk assessments. Please visit www.guardaheart.org for more information.
