Mandriva Has No Case Against Microsoft On Intel's Classmate PCs in Nigeria

The name of Nigeria is being dragged into the mud by François Bancilhon, the CEO of Mandriva, the French vendor of Linux, who alleged that Microsoft snatched a Nigerian contract from Mandriva in his "open letter to Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft.

François Bancilhon said they closed a deal with the Nigerian Government for affordable hardware+software solution for Nigerian schools, to install Mandriva Linux in 17,000 Classmate PCs from Intel. But were surprised when Nigeria dropped their Mandriva Linux and decided to install Windows OS.

I have investigated this matter and to be honest and transparent, Mandriva's CEO François Bancilhon, did not tell the whole truth on this deal.

Please, see "Intel Donates 3, 000 Classmate PCs To Nigeria", to understand the background of this case.

Microsoft has no business with Mandriva in this case and François Bancilhon's "open letter to Steve Ballmer, is totally a waste of time.

Why are you deceptively conflating a 3,000 Classmate PC donation from Intel with a completely separate contract with Mandriva for 17,000 Classmate PCs with Mandriva's OS installed?
My resolution still remains that Microsoft should not be blamed by Mandriva.

The Mandriva's agent in Nigeria should be in the best position to address this matter and the open letter was addressed to the wrong person. Mandriva should have addressed the open letter to the local government Chairman that awarded the contract in Nigeria.

François Bancilhon's "open letter to Steve Ballmer", the CEO of Microsoft, is a publicity stunt.

God bless.
Anonymous,

Please, read the reports on "Nigerian education selects Intel-powered Classmate PC with Mandriva Linux".

My point is still within the context of the Intel's Classmate PCs.

Every day Nigeria donates a couple Nigerians to South Africa. These Nigerians are the biggest drug lords in South Africa now. What good is there to say about Nigeria?
Anonymous,
As you have now shown that your ulterior motive is to question the credibility of Nigeria and not to address the issue raised by Mandriva.

What is the relevance of your digression to Nigerian drug lords in RSA to Mandriva's wolf cry over the contract to supply Classmate PCs with Linux OS to Nigeria?

Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa with over 140 million people and many South African companies such as MTN, Mnet and others are happy doing business in Nigeria.

If there are Nigerian criminals in RSA, you should blame the South African embassy and immigrations for their failures to prevent such fringe elements from escaping from Nigeria to RSA.

Please, I am proud to be a Nigerian and if you have been visitng Nigerian Times since 2005, you would have seen the Nigerian flag flying proudly on the header. The header still shows the proud Nigerians celebrating the victory of winning the Olympic Gold in soccer and also for winning the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.
