Jennifer Lawrence Voted Top Money-Making Star of 2013 in Quigley Publishing Company's Annual Poll

GROTON, Mass., Dec. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Jennifer Lawrence has been voted the Top Money-Making Star of 2013 in Quigley Publishing Company's 82nd Annual Poll. This is Lawrence's first appearance in the Quigley Poll, and the first time an actor has gone from Star of Tomorrow one year to the Top Money-Making Star the next. After winning an Academy Award and a Golden Globe earlier this year and outstanding performances in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and "American Hustle," theatre owners and film buyers felt Lawrence was responsible for more traffic to movie theatres in 2013 than any other actor. Sandra Bullock, who was in "The Heat" and "Gravity" this year, placed second on the Top Ten Money- Making Stars list. The only other time females were voted the top two spots in history was our first poll in 1932 when Marie Dressler and Janet Gaynor were first and second respectively. Since then, nine women have been voted first in the Top Money-Making Star Poll a total of seventeen years, with Julie Andrews, Doris Day, Shirley Temple and Marie Dressler winning multiple times.

The Quigley Poll, conducted each year since 1932, is an annual survey of motion picture theatre owners and film buyers, which asks them to vote for the ten stars that they believe generated the most box-office revenue for their theatres during the year. It has been long regarded as one of the most reliable indicators of a Star's real box-office draw because the selections are made by professionals whose livelihood depends on choosing the films and actors that will bring audiences to their theatres. It draws a distinction among stars that happen to appear in hit films and those stars that Exhibitors and film buyers believe actually cause an audience to come to their theatres. The Quigley Poll appears annually in Quigley Publishing Company's International Motion Picture Almanac and on our web site: www.quigleypublishing.com. Both list the results of all the Polls since 1932.

Bradley Cooper placed third and was in "The Hangover Part III" and "American Hustle." Tom Hanks, who has been one of the Top Ten draws seventeen times with five first place finishes, was fourth this year with great performances in "Saving Mr. Banks" and "Captain Phillips." Last year's winner, Denzel Washington, was fifth place, appearing in "2 Guns" and Leonardo DiCaprio, who was in "The Great Gatsby" and "The Wolf of Wall Street," was sixth. This is the ninth year that Exhibitors have placed both Washington and DiCaprio in the Top Ten. Robert Downey, Jr. who starred in "Iron Man 3" came in seventh.

Hugh Jackman made his third showing in the Top Ten in eighth place with "The Wolverine," "Prisoners" and "Movie 43." Brad Pitt was voted into the ninth spot and was in "World War Z," "12 Years a Slave" and "The Counselor." Exhibitors recognized Melissa McCarthy's audience appeal and voted her into the Top Ten for the first time this year after a busy 2013 with "Identity Theft," "The Hangover Part III" and "The Heat."

Tom Cruise has not placed in the Poll since 2007, but has been in the Top Ten 20 times since 1983, and been voted number one - the most of any actor - seven times. Tom Hanks, Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds and Bing Crosby have all won five times. Clint Eastwood has appeared in the poll 21 times starting in 1968. John Wayne, Doris Day and Shirley Temple each finished first four times, but John Wayne was voted one of the Top Ten Money-Making Stars an astounding 25 times from 1949 to 1974.

Exhibitors were also asked to name the Stars of Tomorrow for 2013: one male and one female who they feel will be Top Money-Makers in the years to come. The 2013 winners are Amy Adams who was in "Man of Steel," "Her," and "American Hustle" and the ubiquitous James Franco who acted in "Oz the Great and Powerful," "Spring Breakers," "Lovelace," "Homefront" and "This is the End" in 2013 in addition to writing, producing and directing numerous films.

Quigley Publishing Company was founded in 1915 and has published the International Motion Picture Almanac annually since 1930 and the International Television & Video Almanac since 1955. Historical data, analysis and all of the Top Ten Money-Making Star Polls dating back to 1932 are available in the 2013 edition of the International Motion Picture Almanac and on our web site: www.quigleypublishing.com

19 Mistakes From Last Flight To Abuja

Obi Emelonye's "Last Flight To Abuja" – The full movie (Nollywood Movies 2013) with over 1,493,241 views so far on YouTube is the number one on the Top 10 Most Watched Videos in Nigeria in 2013 excluding Music, but Nollymovies reported the following 19 mistakes in the best selling movie.

Morning Nigeria Show was hosted by Dan Foster and not Manny and the

Captain George (Anthony Monjaro) radioed the control tower and asked
for permission to take off from runway 2 but the plane is shown to have

he goes straight to the toilet without interrupting their conversation.

Mrs Ime Ibong looks at a police convoy and says "Is that not the
governor?" to which her husband replies "that looks like my chairman,

As Soibifa
(Omalicha Iyasara) struggles with Mr Adesola (Hakeem Kae-Kazim) in the
hotel room, she falls on her right hand which is shown to be placed
between her head and the broken glass, implying her head had no direct
contact with the broken glass table which supposedly killed her.

Factual Error:-
After all the passengers leave the plane, David (Jim Iyke) tries to help Mr
Adesola (Hakeem Kae-Kazim) out, abandons him and runs out as the plane
explodes. Now the explosion is shown to have started before David got to
the rear exit. An explosion of that magnitude should be enough to kill
him. Even if it doesn’t, he should have serious burns and injuries.

The Shocking Resemblance of Mike Omoregbe To Oba Ovonrawmen

Have you seen the real photograph of the great Omo n’Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi, the most famous King of Benin who ruled from 1888–1897 before he was captured, deposed and sent on exile in Calabar by British Consul-General Moor during the Benin Expedition of 1897?
Then have you seen Mike Omoregbe, the Nigerian actor playing the lead role of Ovonramwen in Lancelot Imasuen's historical epic film Invasion 1897?
He bears a striking resemblance to Omo n’Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi!

Even before the makeup-artist made him up for the epic movie, the reigning Oba of Benin, Omo N'Oba Erediauwa and his palace chiefs were stunned by the physical similarities of Mike Omoregbe and Ovonramwen according to Lancelot Imasuen. And that really confirmed that he is destined for the great role in the film.

Mike Omoregbe is not a new actor, but he was on his own kind of exile from acting until destiny beckoned on him to return to play the lead role in Invasion 1897, after nearly 24 years of acting-hibernation.
He started acting from secondary school with roles like "Bambulu" in James Ene Henshaw's popular play This is Our Chance, and later as an undergraduate student of English and Literature at the University of Benin, he co-founded ELSA Playhouse with Aoiri Obaigbo and Tunde Adeleke, becoming the second president of the playhouse after Aoiri and playing roles like "King Creon" in Sophocles’ Antigone, and "Remi" in Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o’s The Black Hermit.

Lancelot Imasuen in action on locations of Invasion 1897.

Invasion 1897 is the most anticipated film to celebrate the Nigeria Centenary in 2014 (modern day Nigeria came into being on January 1, 1914), and to mark the centenary of the death of the great King of Benin, Omo n’Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi in exile in Calabar on January 14, 1914, Lancelot Imasuen will host special guests from corporate Nigeria and leading journalists at his Lagos studios on January 14, 2014. - See more at: http://www.nigeriansreport.com/#sthash.MQ4HbsX2.dpuf.

Famous British Actor Rudolph Walker Replaces Joseph Marcell in Invasion 1897

Rudolph Walker in the Eastenders.

Famous British Actor Rudolph Walker Replaces Joseph Marcell in Invasion 1897

Famous Caribbean born British Actor Rudolph Walker, OBE, has replaced St. Lucian-born English actor Joseph Marcell in Lancelot Imasuen’s historical epic film Invasion 1897.
“This afternoon we signed Rudolph Walker to play a role in Invasion 1897,” said Lancelot Imasuen Friday December 20, as we met in his busy Lagos studios to discuss the progress of the film and his short horror film for The ABCs of Death 2.
“Joseph Marcell couldn't make our new date for shooting in London, because of his other schedules. We will be filming in London before the end of the month. And Rudolph has always been my first choice to play a special role in Invasion 1897,” he added.
His London based associate producers Joe Ehigiamusoe and Julius Imabe of
J2 Konsult Inc, in the UK manage the business of Lancelot Imasuen in Europe.

 Lancelot Imasuen and his associates.

The British actor was the first black actor to appear in a major British TV series for his breakthrough role as Bill in the sitcom Love Thy Neighbour  and currently popular for his role as Patrick Truman in the BBC One TV soap opera Eastenders, you can see on BBC1 and BBC3  on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and the Sunday Omnibus.

Rudolph Walker is happily married to Dounne Alexander, MBE, an accomplished Caribbean born British spiritual herbalist, publisher, author, motivational speaker, health campaigner and award winning business pioneer, voted one of the 100 most influential black people in British history for the 2000 millennium (with her contribution was recorded by the BBC and is stored in the British National Library for posterity).
Mr. Walker is still very much agile even at 74. And he said:
‘An Actor's life for me is one which keeps you creative; forever developing, growing, flourishing and enriching, yourself and others. Therefore you cannot afford to become complacent or relaxed for too long… hence retirement is never a choice; you simply go on to ‘the end.’

Another popular English actor in the film is Charles "Chucky" Venn known for his roles as Curtis Alexander in Sky One's Dream Team, Tremaine Gidigbi in Footballers' Wives and Ray Dixon in EastEnders.

Top Nigerian actors playing lead roles in the epic movie include Charles Inojie, Paul Obazele, Segun arinze, Mike Omoriegbe as Oba Ovonrawmen and the late Justus Esiri in a cameo role.

Did you know that five years before the death of Omo n’Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi, the British Consul-General Moor, who captured, deposed and sent him on exile in Calabar committed suicide in Barnes, Middlesex in 1909. The great Ovonramwen must have cursed him for no one commits such a great sacrilege and escapes the wrath of the Benin Kingdom.

Omo n’Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi.

Invasion 1897 is the untold story of the Benin Expedition of 1897 by the United Kingdom force of 1,200 under Admiral Sir Harry Rawson who captured, burned, and looted Benin City, bringing to an end the West African Kingdom of Benin.
